Summary

Welcome to Colombo, Sri Lanka
The multi-ethnic city of Sri Lanka, Colombo is the capital and the largest city of the country. The city is a contrasting blend of modern and traditional culture laced with high and shiny buildings and red old bricked architectural cites. Today, we are going to visit some of the famous sites that the city has to offer.

Places to Visit

  • Beira Lake

Beira Lake is an artificial lake marking the center of the city and is featured by one of the most famous Buddhists temples residing in it. The lake facilitates boat rides and offers its visitors with a picturesque site to look at.

  • Gangaramaya Temple

Gangaramaya Temple is one of the most famous temples standing gloriously in the center of Beira Lake and overlooking the serene view of the waters and the city. The temple is characterized by modern architecture and cultural essence which makes it not important to the locals but also acts as a major tourist attraction.

  • Viharamahadevi Park

One of the oldest and the largest parks in Colombo, Viharamahadevi Park was previously known as the Victoria Park. The park was built by the british colonial administration and now stands elegantly in front of the Town Hall.

We’re heading to Kandy next

The capital city certainly has the city vibes blending with the tropical culture. The next stop on this journey is Kandy.
