  • Arna

    Arna is a small borough in the municipality of Bergen, in Norway. One of the eight boroughs in Bergen, this section of the city is a lovely place to spend a relaxing weekend, and is a lovely place to spend a calm weekend with the family and soak in the fresh Norwegian air. The city is surrounded by a ring of hills known as the Seven Mountains, encouraging more outdoor adventures. From the Nattjazz Festival to the Bergenfest, the city itself is home to a number of cultural festivals, and also has one of Europe’s oldest orchestras, the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra, founded in 1765.

  • Trengereid

    Trengereid is a small village in Arna, in the municipality of Bergen, Norway. This quaint little village is worth taking a day out to visit this historic space. Though it is a drive out from the main city, this small village does have a few quite tourist attractions of its own, including a number of cultural museums, older churches and historic districts and neighbourhoods. The wide paved streets encourage slow walking tours of the city, and there are guided tours that will allow visitors to learn more about these older villages that are integral to the history of the country. 

  • Vaksdal is a municipality in Vestland, Norway, and is located in the traditional district of Nordhordland. Though it may not be as popular as the bigger cities in Norway, this hidden spot is filled with unique things to do and is a perfect place to visit for the day, while travelling to other places. The historic neighbourhood of Bryggen is worth the walk, as the houses are all brightly coloured and face the waterfront, with multiple souvenir shops, seafood restaurants, and museums. The fjords, too, are worth the visit, and make for a stunning scenic journey if you’re crossing through Vaksdal from Oslo to Bergen.

  • Dale is a small village nestled between the mountains on the west coast of Norway, between Bergen and Voss. This idyllic space is famous for the Dale of Norway company, which manufactures wool sweaters and jackets, making it a significant textile industry in the country. The community sprung from the rise of the textile industry, which uses natural, sustainable power sources to manufacture clothes, and the small village itself works as a ‘museum’ of sorts, for those looking to understand Norewegian culture. A popular spot to visit is the Sognefjord, the second-longest fjord in the world, and the longest one in Norway.

  • Bolstadøyri is a village in the Voss municipality, in Hordaland county in Norway, and is a great place for outdoor enthusiasts to explore, as it is a great place for hiking or climbing up the mountains in the summer months, with skiing down snowy slopes being more popular in winter. For those looking to have a calmer weekend, fishing is a popular activity, with people going to fish in the Vosso river. The river also offers chances for kayaking and other water activities, and people can rent bicycles and go for cycling tours around the village.

  • Bulken

    Bulken is in the Hordaland county, in Norway, and is about 60 kilometres from the capital, Bergen. The town is worth the visit thanks a number of stunning natural sights, like the Kardalsfossen waterfall. These smaller regions in Norway are a must-add to the itinerary, as these smaller spaces provide a new perspective into the region that is different from the hustle and bustle of the main cities. Outdoor enthusiasts in particular will enjoy the trips to these smaller regions as they are perfect for hiking, biking, paragliding, bicycling, and much more.

  • Voss

    Voss is situated between the Hardangerfjord and the Sognefjord, and is easy to get to, either by train or by bus. The space is famous for fantastic experiences, as it is surrounded by high mountains, wooded valleys, and rivers and waterfalls. From tandem parachuting, to paragliding, to white-water rafting, Voss is a great place for children and adults alike to take part in adrenaline-filled activities. During the winters, Voss is one of the best skiing destinations in Norway, with many trails for skiers of all levels, with the Voss cable car taking guests up  the mountains to enjoy stunning panoramic views.
