The traditional capital of Georgia, Kutaisi is an old and medieval city of the country bearing great history. The Bagrati Cathedral stands gracefully on a hilltop making it hard to miss. Along with this beautiful cathedral, we are going to visit the Kolkheti Fountain and the Gelati Monastery.

Places to Visit

  • Kolkheti Fountain 

    Kolkethi Fountain in Kutaisi is located in the Central square of the city. The fountain stands elegantly in front of the Golden Marquee acting as the entrance to the historical site. The fountain is also known to hold a significant importance with the history of the region of Kolkheti, once found in Georgia.  

  • Bagrati Cathedral

    Built during the reign of the king Bagrat III, Bagrati Cathedral is situated on the hill of Ukimerioni. The cathedral is a UNESCO World Heritage site with a significant history. With its medieval-era architecture, the cathedral acts as the greatest attraction of Kutaisi attracting visitors from all around the world.  

  • Gelati Monastery 

    Gelati Monastery is one of the biggest monasteries with a great significance as it holds the buried bodies of some of the most prestigious rulers of the ancient period. The grand monastery is also known for the art and science exhibits that take place in it.
