Cookie Policy
Trift does not set tracking or advertising cookies. This page explains the one thing the site stores in your browser and what embedded content from other services may do.
Cookies set by Trift
None. The site is a set of static pages. We do not run analytics, advertising, or any script that identifies you between visits.
Browser storage we use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Lifetime |
|---|---|---|---|
trift-theme | localStorage | Remembers whether you chose the light or dark theme so the site does not flash on the next page load. It contains only the word “light” or “dark”. | Until you clear your browser data |
This value never leaves your browser and is not sent to us.
Cookies set by third parties
Some pages embed content from other services. Those services may set their own cookies, which we do not control:
- YouTube (destination pages). We use the privacy-enhanced
youtube-nocookie.comembed, so YouTube does not set cookies until you press play. If you play a video, YouTube’s own cookie policy applies. - OpenStreetMap (map embeds on some stories and writer profiles). OpenStreetMap may set a cookie to remember map preferences. See the OSM Foundation privacy policy.
- Netlify, our hosting provider, does not set cookies for ordinary page views.
How to control cookies
You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. Blocking third-party cookies will not break Trift; at most an embedded video or map may ask you to accept its provider’s terms before it plays.
