The Plaza de Armas is the heart and soul of Santiago de Chile. It is the centrepiece of the initial layout of Santiago, which has a square grid pattern.

  • Paseo Puente

Paseo Puente is a street that stretches across 4 blocks and crosses the city centre. The origin of the name of this street is in the great south ramp of the Cal y Canto bridge, built-in 1779, and around which numerous houses and warehouses were built that extended to the Plaza de Armas.

  • Santiago’s Metropolitan Cathedral

The Metropolitan Cathedral stands on the northwest corner of the Plaza de Armas, the historic heart of Santiago. The ceiling of the cathedral is unlike any other and is painted with Baroque decoration.
